Our bi-weekly group runs focus on building healthy base mileage and getting runners incorporated into the local running community. You run at your own pace, and we can provide you with a route for your desired mileage that starts and ends at the shop. While it is not required to run with others, it is easy to find a group/buddy doing a similar run to your own. A great way to stay accountable for your weekly mileage!

Mark Bouma, owner of Lake Washington PT will discuss hamstring injuries and running. He will cover what causes the hamstrings to become strained/injured, different types of hamstring injuries, and considerations for returning to running following a hamstring injury.

Women's Workshop
West Seattle Runner is hosting another Women's Workshop!! This is an event for women who run and walk and workout to come together to learn more about ways to support our unique health needs.
This year, we will be supporting a charity. We chose Girls on the Run! They will be at the event so you can learn more about the program, ways to volunteer, support and more. West Seattle Runner will be donating 10% of sales for the evening to Girls on the Run.

We will have 3 presenters. Michelle Babb MS, RD, CD, is a registered dietitian who holds a Master's degree in nutrition from Bastyr University. She provides clients with the tools they need to achieve optimal health through nutrition education, creative fitness, and emotional balance. We have asked Michelle to speak about nutrition as it pertains to hormones of the female athlete.
Lina Sims, PT, DPT is passionate about women’s health and related pelvic floor conditions. Her interest in women’s health comes from her own pregnancies and postpartum experiences with her two children. Her focus is to guide patients using education, manual therapy, and movement, to help reach their individualized goals. Lina continues her specialty coursework through the Herman and Wallace Pelvic Rehabilitation Institute. She will be teaching us pelvic floor exercises.

Dr. Stefie Deeds, MD FACP, a board-certified Internal Medicine and Obesity Medicine specialist in West Seattle will cover perimenopause/menopause (Role of HRT for joints/sleep), strength training needs (bone health/ what the research shows), and the role of recovery/sleep in performance.

We will have a demo fleet of Brooks bras! Justine will get you fitting in a bra and we will do a couple laps at the track to wear test them. We will also raffle off a couple bras! Hawthorne Massage has generously donated $100 gift certificate for the raffle!!

West Seattle Runner Leprechaun Leg Group Run w/Good Society
We are hosting our 5th Annual Leprechaun Leg Group Run. We will gather at Hiawatha Track and run a 3 mile route through the neighborhood and end at CURRENT COFFEE this year!!! We will CANCEL run group tomorrow. Mostly because the forecast and the fact that we already have a run group set up for Sunday, so let's just make it simple so y'all have time to adjust and adapt your plans. Our Sunday run group will start at 8:30am. We will meet at Hiawatha. We plan on a 3 mile route. However, since we are now replacing run group from Saturday, we can bring other routes out for you.
