Hill Training Session
West Seattle Runner is hosting a hill session! We begin every new training season for Full Fit and Got Fit on the hills, because it makes good sense. This time, we want to open up the hill workouts to everyone! You do not need to be part of Full Fit or Got Fit to participate. When it comes to hills, the more the merrier!
What to expect: You will get coached on the hill workout for 5 weeks (Full Fit does 4 weeks, Got Fit does 4 weeks starting one week after Full Fit, for a total of 5 weeks). You will get guidance on how to execute a hill workout and intensity suggestions. Coach Lori will write the plan and coach you. Lori is a Level 2 Certified RRCA running coach who has coached for P3 Running since 2016. She truly enjoys helping folks reach their goals, no matter what level.
Why? Hill workouts build strength in the cardiovascular and musculoskeletal systems. Running uphill engages the posterior chain, helping with muscle development and engagement that improve running form and reduce injury risk. Mentally, hill workouts increase confidence and can prepare a runner for race day. Additionally, hills prepare you for the next phase of training that occurs at the track with all of these gained systemic improvements.
Track Tuesday
West Seattle Runner will provide three levels of speed workouts so you can find what fits your needs. Or come to run easy or walk on a lit surface with friendly peeps and coaches trackside to help! This is a great opportunity to get introduced to track workouts in a low-pressure, supportive environment. If you want to push your limits and have time goals in mind, this will help you.
Format: 10 minute warm-up on the track, warm-up drills, workout, 10 minute cool-down on the track
